Structural transmission of noise and vibrations often result in discomfort at the work and/or living place, causing stress and health problems. This transmission can be reduced by the introduction of an isolation cut, usually consisting of an elastic decoupling of the structure. Such a vibration cut can be realized at the source itself (recommended), somewhere along the transmission path, or at the receiver (if no other economical possibility available). It is to be noted that the performance of the vibration isolation system must be optimized in function of the loads (permanent and variable), in order to obtain an optimized mass-spring system, related to a certain (low) resonance frequency.
