Generalities

cdm-iso-industry CDM has developed many different ways to isolate vibrating or noisy devices or machines in order to obtain a certain level of human comfort, or to reduce possible disturbances to sensitive equipment installed in the vicinity. Vibration isolation can be obtained by the use of solids (rubberlike materials), steel springs or air cushions, depending on the required performance. Solids can be used for frequencies down to 5Hz; steel springs can go down to 2Hz; below that limit, air cushions can possibly be applied. Generally, to do a design, CDM needs information about the required isolation efficiency, about the weights to be taken up (and its distribution!), about the contact surface possibilities, about the global dimensions, about the excitation frequencie(s) (ideally in spectral form), about the nature and way of functioning of the machine, and about the possible forces involved. Depending on the horizontal forces involved, the following general setups can be considered:
